IBM at MWC was demonstrating their new cloud-based services platform that enables service providers and end users to create and manage private cloud services. IBM’s Scott Burnett controlled lights and drapes at his home thousands of miles away from a tablet in Barcelona.
Companies like IBM, Qualcomm, AT&T and Ericsson were showing off internet-connected appliances controlled by phones and tablets. IBM is collaborating with business partner Shaspa Research and their Shaspa Bridge to connect devices in the home to a cloud-based service infrastructure.
Skifta for Android, a product of Qualcomm, has become the first application to be certified by the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA), a standard that makes it easier for consumers to use, share and enjoy their digital photos, music and videos.
